First Generation (2002 – 2008)

The First Generation was produced from 2002 until its end in 2008, where in this generation the Toyota Alphard came with three engine versions as described below.

• 2.4-Liter 4-Cylinder DOHC Petrol Engine (2AZ-FE): This produces 160 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque. This engine has an average fuel consumption of 9.3 km/liter. It transfers power to the front wheels (FWD) through a four-speed automatic transmission.
• 3.0 Liter 6-Cylinder Petrol Engine (1MZ-FE): This produces 220 horsepower and 224 lb-ft of torque. This engine has an average fuel consumption of 8.6 km/liter. It transfers power to the front wheels (FWD) through a 5-speed automatic transmission.
• Alphard Hybrid: It uses the Toyota Hybrid System-CVT (THS-C) which combines a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder DOHC gasoline engine (2AZ-FXE) with front and rear electric motors connected to an e-CVT transmission and a CVT system. E-Four of all electric wheels. The function of the E-Four systems is to control the electric motor located at the rear that drives the rear tires, and to control the distribution of electric power to all four tires. This system is highly efficient due to its ability to recover power from each tire. The engine produces 170 horsepower and 165 lb-ft of torque, 17 horsepower from the front motor, and 24 horsepower from the rear motor. The average fuel consumption of this system is 16 km/liter

Second Generation (2008 – 2015)

The second generation Toyota Alphard was produced from 2008 to 2015, and came in three trim levels, just like the first generation.

• The engine 2AZ-FE and the system of 2AZ-FXE E-Power AWD hybrid continued in the second generation, with the introduction of a new automatic transmission CVT-i 7-speed paired with the 2AZ-FE engine.
• 3.5-Liter 6-Cylinder Petrol Engine (2GR-FE): This produces 280 horsepower and 253 lb-ft of torque. This engine has an average fuel consumption of 9.4 km/liter (22 miles per gallon). It transfers power to the front wheels (FWD) through a 6-speed automatic transmission.
• 2.4-Liter 4-Cylinder DOHC Petrol Engine (2AZ-FE): This produces 160 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque. This engine has an average fuel consumption of 9.3 km/liter. It transfers power to the front wheels (FWD) through a four-speed automatic transmission.

Third Generation (2015 – 2023)

The third generation began production in 2015 and will run until 2023, with further improvements in appearance, interior and even engine performance.

• 2.5-Liter 4-Cylinder DOHC Petrol Engine (2AR-FE): This produces 177 horsepower and 163 lb-ft of torque. This engine has an average fuel consumption of 13 km/liter (30 miles per gallon). It transfers power to the front wheels (FWD) through an automatic transmission. CVT-i of 7 speeds.
• 3.5-Liter 6-Cylinder Petrol Engine (2GR-FKS): This produces 300 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque. This engine has an average fuel consumption of 9.5 km/liter (27 miles per gallon). It transfers power to the front wheels (FWD) through an 8-speed automatic transmission.
• Alphard Hybrid: It combines a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder DOHC gasoline engine (2AR-FXE) producing 143 horsepower and 155 lb-ft of torque, with a 67 horsepower electric motor.
